Did you know that John Rowan and Partners offer certified UKATA Asbestos awareness training?

As an award-winning construction consultancy, we’re not just about delivering building projects; we’re also deeply committed to safety and compliance. That’s why we’re proud to offer our UKATA Certified Asbestos Awareness Training courses, a key component of our Asbestos Compliance services.

The UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA) is the leading authority on asbestos training. It is recognised and respected for the high standards in asbestos training delivered by its members in accordance with current HSE Legislation.

The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 stipulates that employers are responsible for identifying training requirements of their staff, including any trainees and apprentices, who are likely to be exposed to asbestos and to those who supervise or oversee works that might expose employees to asbestos. The self-employed are responsible for ensuring that their training is suitable and sufficient for the work they carry out.

The need for training is sadly still very much needed. According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), around 5,000 people die every year in the UK from asbestos-related diseases. Shockingly, this figure is nearly three times higher than those killed on UK roads.

Tailored to clients’ needs

Our training courses are designed to equip people with the knowledge needed to navigate their projects (and careers) safely in an industry where asbestos exposure remains a significant risk.

Our Senior Asbestos Compliance Manager, Anthony Lacey, leads these courses. With more than 25 years of experience in the field, Anthony doesn’t just teach from a textbook; he shares a wealth of practical insights and expertise. His training covers everything from the legal aspects to the health risks of asbestos exposure, ensuring that participants are well-prepared to work safely.

The training is tailored to our clients’ needs and includes legislative requirements, risks associated with asbestos exposure and to how to stay protected. After completion of the course clients will have an understanding of locations and types of asbestos and will understand the risks associated with the exposure of asbestos materials in the workplace and at home.

Our client, Thomas Gainsborough School, asked us to help them conduct focused asbestos training for their staff. Liz Clements, Premises Manager, Thomas Gainsborough School commented: “Due to the exceptional service we received from John Rowan and Partners, we also approached them with regards to our asbestos focused training requirements. As a result, John Rowan and Partners delivered a number of UKATA accredited Asbestos Awareness Training sessions and an introduction to the management of asbestos in buildings.

We are extremely happy with the services we received from John Rowan and Partners, and feel we are now in a far greater compliant position with regards to our asbestos management. From start to finish, we received a personable and friendly service, and would not hesitate to recommend them.”
