John Rowan and Partners win role in £72.6m partnership between Crest Nicholson and Southern Housing Group

Construction consultant, John Rowan and Partners has been appointed Employer’s Agent after helping to support a three project package deal partnership agreement between housebuilder Crest Nicholson and housing association Southern Housing Group.

The contracts will see Crest Nicholson deliver over 850 homes across three schemes, with 205 to be owned and managed by Southern Housing Group. The homes include private rental homes, affordable rented and shared ownership housing.

The appointment is the first time John Rowan and Partners has worked with Southern Housing Group, which is one of the largest providers of affordable housing in the south east and a member of the G15. The Group owns and manages over 28,000 homes and operates in over 40 local authorities. Their main role will be to act as Employer’s Agent on behalf of the Group and administer the contracts throughout the partnership.

Southern Housing Group has entered into build agreements and purchased the land to deliver the homes which are spread across three sites in Chobham, Cranleigh (Surrey) and Walthamstow (London).

At Upper Longcross near Chobham, Crest Nicholson will deliver 35 affordable homes with 12 set aside for affordable housing and the remaining 23 as shared ownership homes.

At Longhurst Park in Cranleigh, Crest Nicholson will deliver its second phase with Southern Housing Group acquiring a total of 79 homes, 36 affordable homes and 43 shared ownership homes.

At Essex Brewery in Walthamstow, which is located within a 10 minute walk of the Victoria line Underground station, Southern Housing Group has acquired 91 apartments as a bulk purchase for private rent. These will be managed by Southern Housing Group’s Private Rent brand Spruce Homes.

With construction already well underway at the Essex Brewery site, homes are expected to be ready in autumn 2019 with the first homes at Longcross and Cranleigh set to be ready for occupation from spring 2020.
