The Opportunity

John Rowan and partners are looking to grow our existing team of Senior Principal Designers and CDM Advisors. This exciting role will involve working on a number of projects across public and private sectors on a mixture of new build, refurbishment, tall building remediation, and maintenance schemes.

The role involves working on multiple projects across London, Home Counties, and the Southeast, visiting sites and reporting, as well as representing John Rowan and Partners to clients and contractors. The Safety Compliance team is thriving, with an ever-growing client base with great opportunities for training and development potential.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who can demonstrate strong leadership qualities with a ‘can do’ attitude.

The role will include working closely with our clients and internal teams to deliver projects in a safe and compliant manner. What the job involves?
  • You will be fulfilling the duties of the Principal Designer as defined under CDM 2015 including where necessary carrying out the role of CDM-Advisor to support the client.
  • You’ll have relevant experience making sure that multiple team members and duty holders such as the client, designers, contractors and other internal multidisciplinary team members at John Rowan and Partners coordinate and cooperate with each other and check that relevant duties are complied with.
  • You’ll be planning, managing, monitoring and coordinating pre-construction phases of projects to identify, eliminate, or control significant and foreseeable risks relating to construction, maintenance, cleaning and using the building as a workplace.
  • You’ll work with the client to gather preconstruction information, assess the adequacy, identify gaps and provide advice on how they might be filled and distribute to those that need it.
  • You’ll be managing multiple projects for key clients to the business particularly focused on the high-rise residential refurbishment, development and commercial sector.
  • You’ll be attending client meetings and carrying out H&S site inspections and delivering high quality reports to the client within agreed deadlines.
  • You will be providing clear, concise, and practical Health and Safety advice, guidance and coaching to project teams throughout all stages of the project.
  • You’ll be responsible for collating, preparing and issuing Health & Safety Files to the client.
  • You’ll be responsible for fees, invoicing, closing out appointments and supporting debtor control.
  • You’ll be responsible for exploring potential cross-sell opportunities across the wider Bellrock teams.
What do I need in order to do this job?

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

  • You have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the construction industry with experience of CDM/Health and Safety issues in construction.
  • You have excellent working knowledge and understanding of CDM 2015 and appropriate legislation.
  • You have demonstrable previous experience in successfully delivering the Principal Designer and CDM Advisor roles in the residential refurbishment, development, and commercial sector.
  • You ideally hold a NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • You ideally are an incorporated member of the Association for Project Safety (IMaPs).
  • You have a full and clean driver’s license.
  • You will need a willingness to travel to varied sites across London, Home Counties, and the Southeast.
  • You will need to be well motivated
  • You will need to be a good communicator with interpersonal and organisational skills
