The Wharf E5
Introducing The Wharf, a stylish new collection of one and two-bedroom apartments beside London’s River Lea. We began in October 2012, a joint venture between A2 Dominion and developer Sherrygreen Homes, the scheme comprises of 124 mixed tenure flats which included private, shared ownership and rented, approximately 9 of the flats were for disabled residents.
The flats were constructed using a concrete frame and brick cladding system, with intermediate metal cladding in various places to the façade.
The construction of the concrete frame to Block A including piling and brickwork was monitored by our site inspectors to ensure quality. We were originally tasked with the site inspection duties for the affordable section of the scheme only, on behalf of A2Dominion.
In mid-2014 John Rowan were approached by Sherrygreen Homes requesting that we provide further site inspection services as a result of the excellent quality that had been achieved on the 44 Rented and Shared
Ownership properties. At this stage works to the fitting out of the additional 80 private properties was well advanced.
Our site inspection team carried out a quality audit on these properties to ensure consistency throughout the scheme. Once this was completed regular inspections were undertaken and reports issued. The contractors QA process was scrutinised regularly by the site inspection team and as a result, the quality was never compromised.
We were able to raise a number of issues early on that benefited our client, these were identified during our inspections and reported to the contractor, they included things such as fire stopping to riser cupboards being inadequate and not in accordance with the approved document.
The scheme was successfully handed over in early March 2015.
